Well, it does happen, apparently, so it shouldn't be made impossible to do, but a warning or something might help when those duplicate associations are created. How likely is it that the same disc ID would be on different versions of an album (e.g. I suspect it is because people are not wanting to do whatever it takes to submit a new release version, and/or they just want to do the bare minimum to get own their files tagged to their satisfaction, which is often a matter of picking from the things already in the database and saying "close enough!". a 1980s CD and a 2000s remastered version). I keep finding the same disc ID/track layout attached to multiple, impossible (well, extremely unlikely) combinations of release versions (e.g. ![]() I occasionally need to figure out which release a loose track in my digital collection came from, so I see how long it is in sectors/frames and then try to find that duration in whatever disc IDs are on the website for that album.Īside from this being a tedious process (I wish I could just easily search for a given artist/title + frame count), what I often find is there's apparently not much being done to discourage people from causing their disc IDs to be associated with incorrect releases.
